Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Gym: Cascarrafa Gym

Lets take on the Water type gym in Cascarrafa. For this gym, you will want to use a Grass type Pokémon.

Cascarrafa Gym - Preparations:

If you recall the recommended level table from earlier, the recommended level for this challenge is level 29.

Cascarrafa Gym - Location:

You will want to start from the Pokémon Center in West Province (Area One). From there, go north along the path, past the Team Star Dark Crew Base, until you see a trainer on the right. Battle him, he will have a level 16 Magikarp (Water type) and a level 16 Arrokuda (Water type). Now up further is the Pokémon Center that is right outside of Cascarrafa. Go inside the town, then make your way to the elevator in the south of the town. This will take you up to the gym. Once there, the gym leader will run out and the desk attendant will follow him.

You will find out that Kofu is in a hurry to get something from Porto Marinada and you have to go there and give him his wallet that he forgot behind. The attendant will give you the wallet and this will count as your Gym Test.

Start making your way to Porto Marinada by leaving from the north entrance. This will take you into Asado Desert. There are plenty of trainers and items to pick up here, but we will save that for a later part of this guide. Head northwest until you reach an exit along the north side of the desert. You will see that it turns into grass and there is a path.

Once there, follow the path, picking up a Super Potion on the left. Then a bit further, an Ultra Ball on the left and a trainer on the right. You will see Kofu there too. The trainer has a level 23 Sandygast (Ground/Ghost type) and a level 23 Masquerain (Bug/Flying type). Right next to the trainer is a Full Heal, then head west along the path, where you will see a trainer on the right just before the Pokémon center. He will have a level 23 Rufflet (Normal/Flying type). Head to the Pokémon Center and get the Focus Sash right next to it. Then you can heal your Pokémon if you need to, then follow the path to head into Porto Marinada.

Cascarrafa Gym - Gym Test:

Once here, you can find Kofu in the middle of town. You will be challenged by a trainer working with him. He has a level 28 Floatzel (Water type) and a level 28 Clauncher (Water type). After the fight, you can give the wallet back to Kofu. Now you have to help him get a special item before you can battle him.

This is the actual Gym Test. You need to win the auction and get the special item that Kofu is looking for. You need to bid small increments of 5000 each time and the other bidders will give up eventually. Once that is over, you will be able to challenge Kofu back in Cascarrafa.

Cascarrafa Gym - Kofu:

Back in Cascarrafa, head back to the gym and you will be able to battle Kofu. He will have a level 29 Veluza (Psychic/Water type), a level 29 Wugtrio (Water type), and a level 30 Crabominable (Fighting/Ice type). He will Terrastallize Crabominable turning it into a Water type.

Cascarrafa Gym - Rewards:

Once you defeat him, you will get the water badge as well as the TM22 Chilling Water. Pokémon up to level 40 will be easier to catch and control. That is it for the water badge. Time to take on another Team Star Base.
