In the opening prologue of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players will find themselves with the familiar choice of picking a starter Pokémon. They will also get introduced to their friend/rival, have their first battle, learn how to catch Pokémon, and more.

As the sun rises over the picturesque landscape, excitement fills the air as trainers-to-be eagerly anticipate the adventures that await them. I will guide you through all the main story objectives to complete this part of the story. I will also include information on all the items you can collect in the area and all the trainers you can battle along with which Pokémons they will be using. Are you ready? Lets get started!

Getting Started:

Before starting the game, you can delve into a customization menu to craft your character, adjusting features like hair color, style, and eye color to your liking. Once satisfied with your creation, the game begins with the creation of your school application and a brief introductory cutscene. You'll then be able to play as your character where a short tutorial initiates, acquainting you with movement controls and basic gameplay mechanics and story elements.

Initially, you'll be directed to head downstairs and locate your character's mother in the kitchen, where you'll discover that your character is enrolling in Naranja/Uva Academy (Naranja if you are on Scarlet and Uva if you are on Violet). The Academy Director, Mr. Clavell, interrupts this conversation by arriving at the door, prompting you to retrieve your bag and hat upstairs.

Here, you'll be introduced to the Adventure Guide accessible from your bag throughout your journey. Upon returning downstairs, Mr. Clavell will request you to meet him outside to select your starter Pokémon.

The three starter Pokémon that you get to choose from are Sprigatito: the grass cat Pokémon, Quaxly: the water-type duckling Pokémon, and Fuecoco: the fire croc Pokémon.

This is not where you will actually get to pick your new best friend however. You will be able to walk with them as you head to Cabo Poco.

Mom will give you a Rotom Phone, which you can use to look at the map by pressing on the Y button. The map will show you the location of your next objective.

The First Day of School:

You are now ready to embark on your journey towards your first day of school! The first mission that you are officially tasked with requires you to take the 3 starter Pokemon on a walk with you to a house down the road where Director Clavell will be waiting.

Now remember how I said that I would be giving you information on items you can pick up along the way? Well, here is the first one, on the right side of your house, in the vegetable garden there is an item you can pick up, it's an Antidote. Next, at the back of the house is a Potion, then up the path to the left is a Poke Ball.

Then start to head down to the house where Director Clavell is. There are two characters you can talk to on your way. One will give you some information about Cabo Poco, the small town where you are headed; and the other will let you know that the game has multiplayer features.

There is one more item to pick up before entering the house, it is located to the left of the path behind the tree. It's a Poke Ball. Then once you have picked that up, you can enter the yard of the house through the gates and you will be greeted by Director Clavell and Nemona. This is your first time meeting Nemona, your new friend/rival.

Starter Pokémon:

So as you know, there are 3 options for your starter Pokemon. You can talk to each one to find out more about them. Each of them is strong against one and weak to another. So Sprigatito, the grass type, is weak to Fuecoco, the fire type, but strong against Quaxly, the water type. Similarly, Quaxly is weak to Sprigatito but strong against Fuecoco. And finally Fuecoco is weak to Quaxly but strong against Sprigatito. Basically, water beats fire, fire beats grass, and grass beats water.

So once you have picked a starter Pokémon, Nemona will then pick one of the two you didn't pick. She will always pick the one that is weakest against yours. Nemona is always hungry for a battle as you'll come to find out throughout this walkthrough. As soon as she picks her starter Pokémon, she will challenge you to a battle down on the beach. When you are ready, you can proceed to the beach to start the battle.

Battling Nemona on the Beach:

So, before going to battle Nemona, there are a few items that you can pick up. The first is a Potion to your left by the palm tree. Picking up this item will pop up a tip that will teach you about Auto Heal.

Next you can head south to find 2 more items. One is an Antidote and the other is another Potion. Then head to the beach and head south by the water to find a Poke Ball. Now for the last item, if you run past Nemona and to the left there is a path that leads to a Poke Ball.

Now that you are all finished gathering all the items, you can battle Nemona.

This battle will be quite straightforward, Nemona will only have one Pokémon. To easily defeat her, use your Pokémon's type move, for example if you chose Fuecoco, use Ember. As soon as the battle is over, there will be a short cutscene with Nemona and Director Clavell. This will lead to Director Clavell giving you the Pokedex App for your Rotom Phone.

Poco Path:

Now you can head back to where you picked your starter Pokémon, and out through the gates you entered earlier. Here you will be run into your Mom where she will give you a Sandwich and 5 potions.

After that interaction, it's now time to go to Poco Path. This is where you will be able to find your first wild Pokémon and where Nemona will teach you how to catch them. She will first give you 5 Poke Balls so you can try it. Then a LeChonk will appear and the tutorial will begin. You can hit X and then A to throw the Poke Ball. After that you can talk to Nemona and she will 10 more Poke Balls and then she'll tell you that she wants you to meet her at the Lighthouse when you're ready. Battle some Pokémon, catch some others, get some experience, and then when you're ready, head towards the lighthouse.

The Lighthouse:

So first, right in front of you will be an item by the tree for you to pick up. Then turn northwest and walk until you find an item behind a rock. Then keep going east, following the path, you'll find a Potion, a Poke Ball, a Super Potion. Then head southeast, you can pick up a Revive, then south to get an Antidote. Then head up the cliff to the south and collect the Rare Candy to the east. Go more east and find the Potion, then continue to find a Paralyze Heal. Then, go even further east, at the top of the cliff there is a Revive. Finally, head west along the ropes to find another Revive. Now you can follow the path until you find Nemona. While you are having a conversation with her, a "Mysterious Cry" will sound off.

The Mysterious Cry:

After that Mysterious Cry, you are trying to investigate to find the source of the cry. Before going to see what made that sound, let's pick up a few items around the area. Head north until you find the Ether behind the rock. Then by the tree to the southwest there is a Potion. Then next to that is another item, an Ether. Now you can go back to the path and head east until you find Nemona. Head to the broken part of the barrier behind her and you'll hear the cry again. You'll see a mysterious Pokémon down by the water.

At this point, your character will slip and fall to the bottom, right next to the Pokémon. Head over to it and interact, at which point you will find out that it is too weak to move so you give it the sandwich that your mom gave you just a bit earlier. After eating it, the mysterious Pokémon will now head over to the cave behind you.

Inlet Grotto:

Follow the Pokémon into the cave, where you will find a Potion. Keep following it. The Pokémon will destroy the rocks blocking your way. Here you can pick up some more items. First get the Poke Ball to the left and the Potion straight ahead behind the rock. Then, at the back of the cave is a Revive. Keep following the Pokémon through the cave. You will then be attacked by a Houndoom which will be prove too much for your starter Pokémon and it will be knocked out. Then the mysterious Pokémon will save you and take you out of the cave. Here Nemona will give you a TM (Technical Machine). This one contains the move Swift.

Battling Arven:

After the interaction with Nemona, you can finish heading to the Lighthouse. This is where you will meet Arven. He will tell you more about the mysterious Pokémon that you encountered. Depending on which game you have, it will either be Koraidon or Miraidon for Scarlet or Violet respectively. He will then challenge you to a battle.

For the battle, he will use one Pokémon, a level 5 Skwovet. It is a normal type, you should be able to defeat it easily as long as you don't use Ghost type attacks. Once you beat him, he will give you a Poke Ball to hold Koraidon/Miraidon.

Then you will have to follow Nemona to the top of the lighthouse. However, before doing so, go behind the lighthouse and grab the Revive. Now climb up to the top and speak to Nemona.

Los Platos:

While up at the top of the lighthouse, you will see Los Platos. Start making your way there. Along the path, the first thing person you will encounter is a trainer on the left right before the bridge. You can battle him to get some good experience. He will have a level 5 Tarantoula, a bug type.

After beating him, you can head northeast to find a X Defense. Then head northwest to find an Awakening, then north to find a Potion. Now turn around and go west to find a Poke Ball. Head southwest to get the Poke Ball then south to find another one. Now just before the bridge there is one more trainer you can battle who will have a level 5 Lechonk.

Now you can head to Los Platos where you will find Nemona at the Pokémon Center. She will give you some materials and some League Points (LP). You can use them to craft TMs at the Pokémon Center. Each TM requires a certain amount of materials and LP. You can gather those materials by battling the Pokémon that it corresponds to. You might have noticed along your journey so far, along the ground there are occasional glowing yellow stars. You can walk up to them and interact to pick them up. This is another way to collect some of those TM materials. Here is a great resource that lists all the materials in a table, with the Pokémon that drop it and which TM can be crafted from it: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/TM_Material

Mesagoza:

Now before heading to Mesagoza, lets pick up a few items and battle some trainers. After your conversation with Nemona, head west then southwest and pick up an Antidote. Then in the back of the gardens, pick up a Paralyze Heal. Now by the water there is a TM, Rest. Now leave Los Platos and go northwest where you can find a Potion and an Experience Candy XS. These Experience Candy come in different sizes: XS, S, M, L, and XL. The XS will give you 100 XP, the S 800, the M 3000, the L 10000, and the XL 30000. Now in the northwest, you will find another TM, Stored Power.

Now continue along the path towards Mesagoza. On the left you can pick up another Antidote. Then up the hill there is a Poke Ball and then south up the cliff to get a Net Ball. Now back to the path to find a trainer who has 2 Pokémon. One is a level 4 Azurill (Normal and Fairy type) and the other a level 5 Houndour (Dark and Fire type). After defeating him, you can head up the path to find a Potion. Then northwest to get the Poke Ball, and then north to find another trainer. He will have a level 5 Gulpin (Poison type).

After defeating him, you can head east to get a Poke Ball, then further is a X Sp. Def. Head back to the path and grab the Potion and the Antidote along the way. Then towards the path in the grass there is another Exp. Candy XS and a Poke ball. Here you should see another trainer close to the Pokémon Center. He will have a level 6 Rookidee (Flying type). After this battle you can either head into Mesagoza or following the path towards Los Platos to battle some more trainers and pick up some more goodies.

If you want to follow the path, head east to find an Ether. Follow the path some more to find another trainer. He will have a level 5 Chewtle (Water type). Keep going on the path, in the grass to the left you should see 2 more items, a Burn Heal and a Poke Ball. Now go southwest to find a Paralyze Heal. Then back to the path and you should see a trainer who has a level 5 Bounsweet (Grass). After beating her, head south to find a Potion behind the rock. Then back towards Los Platos where you'll find an Antidote.

Now head north through the grass to go back to Mesagoza. Once you are back near the entrance you can head over to the Pokémon Center to heal your Pokémon. After your team is all healed up, talk to the Pokémon League Rep. He will give you a challenge to defeat 4 trainers in this area which you should have completed so he will instantly give you the Thunder Wave TM as a reward. There is a Pokémon League Rep at a Pokémon Center in each Area of the map. They will all give you a challenge to defeat a certain amount of trainers.

Now head into Mesagoza where Nemona is waiting. Make sure your Pokémon are full health before going in, as she will instantly battle you.

Battling Nemona at Mesagoza:

Nemona will use her starter Pokémon from earlier which will be level 8. She will also have a second Pokémon which will be a level 9 Pawmi (Electric type). Once you defeat her starter, she will send out Pawmi and Terrastallize it. This is your first encounter with Terrastallizing. No worries, if you have a ground type Pokémon, now is the time to use it. If not, don't worry you should still be able to defeat her, so long as you have been battling and raising your Pokémon's level.

Once you have defeated her, you will get 3 Revives. Now you will be in the town.

To the School:

Walk around town before meeting Nemona at the school gate. You can find items laying around and shops that will sell you some good stuff. Once you head up the stairs, there will be a team of Grunts that is interacting with another student. You can either help that student out or not.

If you choose to help out the student, you will have to battle the 2 Grunts. This will be your first interaction with Team Star. The first battle will be against a level 8 Shroodle (Poison/Normal). Then once that battle is over, assuming you won, Nemona will appear and give you a Tera Orb enabling you to start Terrastallizing. Battle two will be against a level 9 Yungoos (Normal). Once you win this battle you can head into the school.

There will be a cutscene and then once all that is over, you can explore the school. You can choose which rooms to explore and depending on which room you go to, there will be a different person waiting for you in those rooms. Start by going to the room with Nemona. This will unlock the Victory Road path which is gym battles. Next, head to the room with Arven in it (the cafeteria), this is where you will unlock the Path of Legends path. Arven will teach you about the Herba Mystica and the Titan Pokémon. Once that is over with, you will get a phone call as you try to leave the room. Someone named Cassiopeia calls you because she wants to talk about Team Star. Hereby starting the third path, Starfall Street.

Once that phone call is over, you will see Director Clavell briefly and then you'll be taken back to the main entrance. You will then be called to the Director's office. Head to the computer to travel to his office. Here you will meet Professor Sada or Professor Turo depending on your version of the game, and you will learn about Koraidon or Miraidon. The professor will tell you to continue to look after the Pokémon. You will also learn that this Pokémon can be used as a means of transportation.

Now you can leave the Director's office and talk to Nemona who will appear to show you to your dorm room. Now rest in your bed, then you will be prompted to head to the schoolyard. This is where you will learn about the Treasure Hunt, and where your journey into exploring the map begins.

Once the cutscene is over, you can go to the stairs to leave the academy. Nemona will interrupt you and remind you about Victory Road, then Arven will tell her that you will be helping him with Path of Legends instead, and Cassiopeia will call you to remind you about Team Star and Operation Starfall.

Now if you check your map, you will see all the locations of all three paths. You can go in any order and you don't have to do the paths one at a time. This is where that table from the previous page comes into play. This is the recommended order for the easiest time completing the challenges. Therefore, that is the order that I will follow in this guide.
