Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Guide - Alfornada Gym

Alfornada Gym is a Psychic type gym, in the far bottom left corner of the map. For this gym, you will want to use Dark, Bug, Steel, Ghost, or Fairy type moves.

Alfornada Gym - Preparations:

The recommended level for this challenge is level 45. That is only one level higher than the previous challenge so shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.

Alfornada Gym - Location:

You will want to start from the West Province Area One Central Pokémon Center. From there head south along the path and at the intersection make a left. Head down until you see a Super Potion on your right. Then further down there will be a trainer on your left. He will have a level 17 Salandit (Fire/Poison type).

Now down the path some more there is a Revive on the right. Then keep going until you see three Potion on the right. Next on the left is a trainer, he has a level 17 Pincurchin. After that you can pick up a Heal Powder on the right. Now head into the cave. Go east then jump up and get the Potion. Now follow the path left towards the back of the cave. Next drop down, there should be a Rare Candy there for you to pick up. Now head west and then south to get a Super Potion, then head back the way you came.

Now go west up the rocks. You should now see a trainer which has a level 39 Electrode (Electric type). Keep going up the rocks behind him, then when you are close to the top of the cave there will be another trainer. She will have a level 40 Shelgon (Dragon type), a level 40 Sliggoo (Dragon type), and a level 40 Haxorus (Dragon type). Continue going up after beating her to find another trainer. He will have a level 40 Luxray (Electric type).

Now to the southwest is the exit, before exiting, there is another trainer to the south. She will have a level 44 Hippowdon (Ground type) and a level 44 Lycanroc (Rock type). Now exit the cave and you will be really close to Alfornada. Follow the path and battle the trainer here, with a level 39 Revavroom (Steel/Poison type).

Now head into Alfornada.

Alfornada Gym - Gym Test:

Once you get to the gym, before you take on the Gym Test, you will have to battle Nemona. She will have a level 42 Lycanroc (Rock type), a level 42 Sliggoo (Dragon type), a level 42 Pawmot (Electric/Fighting type), and a level 43 Starter Pokémon depending on which starter you chose. The Starter will be of the weaker type compared to your starter, so if you chose Fire, her's will be Grass, etc.

Now that you have defeated her, it is time to take on the Gym Test. Like always, speak to the person behind the front desk and register for the test. Once registered, exit the gym and head to the garden right next to it. Speak to the women with the black outfit next to the Medicham. She will explain the test to you, which involves you copying the moves that she does. She will have the option to show you one of four emotion each time, and each emotion will be set to a certain button on your device. You have to match the emotion that she presents. For example, if she says joy, you have to press the corresponding button that represents joy. The emotions are color coded to help you out.

This shouldn't be too difficult. However, this was only the first part of the test. Now you have to battle some trainers. The first trainer you will have to battle will have a level 43 Gothorita (Psychic type) and a level 43 Kirlia (Psychic/Fairy type).

Before the next trainer you need to match the emotions again. After that the second trainer will appear. He has a level 43 Grumpig (Psychic type), a level 43 Medicham (Psychic/Fighting type), and a level 43 Indeedee (Psychic/Normal type).

That is it for the Gym Test, once you have defeated the second trainer, the test will be over and you can now battle the gym leader. Heal your Pokémon, then get ready for the battle.

Alfornada Gym - Tulip:

Tulip will have four Pokemon, a level 44 Farigiraf (Psychic/Normal type), Gardevoir (Psychic/Fairy type), and Espathra (Psychic type), and a level 45 Florges (Fairy type). She will Terastalize Florges turning it into a Psychic type.

Alfornada Gym - Rewards:

Once defeated, she will give you TM120 Psychic and Pokémon up to level 55 will obey you. You now have 7 out of 8 gym badges, one more and you will have them all. The next challenge is this last gym.
