Activision may reveal the next Call of Duty game sooner than expected, possibly this month, despite Xbox planning a digital showcase focused on it next month. Data miners discovered a reference to a potential reveal in Call of Duty: Warzone game files, indicated by "s3_cerberus_reveal", provided by CharlieIntel on Twitter.

Although the game doesn't have an official codename, an image featuring an orange three-headed wolf logo was teased in Xbox Games Showcase announcement. Reports suggest this year's title might be Black Ops 5, with Treyarch as the lead developer. According to Windows Central, the game's narrative may involve the Gulf War aftermath following Black Ops: Cold War's events. There is also an image circulating around for the Call of Duty 2024 reward blueprint on which the weapon has a inscription on it that says "Sally" followed by 6 tallies. According to CharlieIntel, this could signify that this year's Call of Duty will be Black Ops 6, counting Black Ops: Cold War as Black Ops 5.

This news follows Microsoft's announcement of an Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, where updates on upcoming Xbox games are expected. Additionally, a separate event dedicated to an undisclosed project will follow. The release window for the next Call of Duty game is anticipated to be in late October, as per The Verge. Regardless of the reveal timing, fans can anticipate learning more about the game soon.

What are your thoughts on this? Will we be seeing a new Black Ops this year? If so, will it be Black Ops 5 or Black Ops 6?
